I joined Twitter earlier this year during the first ProductCampAustin. The conference set up a Twitter account for everyone to follow during the event.  It was a great way to keep track of all the comments during the sessions and to keep in touch after it was over. From there, I was hooked.

    I use twitter to stay in touch with friends abroad and also to share ideas with like minded individuals. Twitter has been great to gain insight to the most current events and technology often before it is published on authority sites.

    Hi Josh -

    I joined Twitter for really two reasons…

    1) Network and share information with people in my industry (online games) and field (product management);
    2) Find readers for my blog; and
    3) Broaden my mind.

    In a lot of ways, Twitter has replaced Digg and other sites I used to visit regularly. My network of people offers more relevant information, quicker, and with more personality than any aggregator or RSS reader.

    And it’s a lot more fun to interact in 140 characters or less than I would have thought!

    i think that is a definitely one of the reasons why people are getting on Twitter. I also think that being able to have conversations with people that are very popular and knowledgeable is another reason.

    I didn’t realize it until you pointed it out how much Twitter has replaced the sites I used to check multiple times a day, Digg included. Very good point!
